This Local Area Plan consists of 254 hectares to guide the future expansion of the town in a sustainable manner, with a population increase of 20,000 people across three distinct new neighbourhoods.

The masterplan is committed to retaining strong links back to the town of Drogheda whilst ensuring that the new communities within the town expansion are self-sustaining and distinctive, both in character and appearance. This is achieved by spatially organising the masterplan along an East-West cross route and a substantial linear park linking the new neighbourhoods. Individual neighbourhood character is rooted in existing context, encouraging the protection of existing wildlife habitats and integration of quality landscapes to balance the needs of both our built and natural environments.
