Grace Park ETNS is a 16-classroom primary school located in the DCU All Hallows Campus. This is an important conservation site with protected structures and a historic landscape setting. It was important that while the school is modern in design it reflected and respected the forms and materiality of the historic context. OMP worked closely with DCU and DCC Conservation to find an appropriate language for the school. Quality materials including stone, copper and timber were chosen to reference the surrounding buildings. The steeply pitched roofs, stone banding and vertical emphasis of the facades created a rhythm that reflects the surrounding buildings. The school extends over three floors and features double height spaces, large full height windows and a roof top garden. The interior of the school is enhanced by glimpses of the historic landscape and architecture surrounding it. This was a design and build project for the Department of Education and Skills, OMP were involved in the project from concept to tender stage.
