We’re looking forward to reading Irish Housing Design 1950 - 1980, which examines the architectural design of housing projects in Ireland from the mid-twentieth century. One of the featured case studies is James Pikes’ innovative housing project, Ashgrove, in the Coombe, which challenged the accepted model of local authority housing at the time, and instead proposed a maisonette scheme based on streets, human scale and community. As a practice, we are continuing to develop new housing models for patterning our cities which address these themes.
