This student accommodation scheme proposes a new urban edge to Bandon Road, historically the main western approach to Cork city, and a collection of independent blocks organized within generous communal spaces. The site is located in the south western city suburbs along Bandon Road, in a largely residential area with a high percentage of student dwellers due to the proximity of University College Cork.

The scheme is organised into five blocks varying in heights from 4 to 6 storeys and separated by generous communal courtyards and gardens. To the south, the scheme offers views over the Lough and its park, to the north the scheme sits along the historical streetscape of Bandon road, offering a contemporary interpretation of the local vernacular. The proposal focuses on an active and animated street front by locating the site entrance, reception, and students’ amenities on Bandon Road. A generous archway, providing both pedestrian and vehicular access, will visually connect the inner open spaces with the urban realm.  The scheme’s internal layout combines 6-8 bed modular clusters comprising uniform en-suite bedrooms, and a shared dual aspect living/kitchen/dining space.
