Envisaged as a major regeneration of the existing town, this landmark project on the northern edge of Greystones creates a new sustainable, seafront precinct, with exemplary community and marine infrastructure.
Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the site strategy for Marina Village is based on the preservation of the views toward Bray Head, with the adoption of a linear layout paralleling the foreshore. The layout embraces traditional urban patterns to create a clear hierarchy of spaces: squares, courts, streets, boulevards and lanes are linked together to ensure legibility, accessibility and connectivity throughout the new village and are in turn closely linked to the existing movement patterns in the town. A public coastal footpath will be provided to create continuous access from the town, through the Marina development, and along the coastline to Bray Head.
The project includes a secure harbour with breakwaters, slipways, a marina, a coastguard station, club facilities, shops, restaurants, a new coastal park and public plaza, along with a vibrant waterside community of apartments & family houses. The buildings are designed to optimise views over the water for the residents, and the robust materiality of the project is respectful of the exposed waterside location.
