The Loughmacask Masterplan continues O’Mahony Pike’s engagement with Kilkenny City and its hinterlands following our work on the City Centre and Western Environs Local Area Plans.
Envisaged as a catalyst for the development of the area north west of the historic city centre, this masterplan provides a context based development framework, incorporating existing planting and historic features.
Given the unique environment formed by the landscape features, with marked topographical depressions in the turlough area and a field structure defined by the hedgerows, the design is led by the open space strategy and a deep engagement with siting and movement within the lands, and visual and physical connections beyond the lands. 387 dwellings and a new village centre are accommodated along a high street that carefully navigates the site features and links varied residential character areas.
