Scholarstown Wood is designed as four linked neighbourhoods within a single development area, each of which has its own access route and public open spaces, enabling the scheme to be delivered in separate phases, and for each neighbourhood to have a distinct identity.
Throughout the scheme, the streets are configured to capture views of existing landscape features, the vista of each one terminated by public open space or the green belt surrounding the site. Existing mature trees are retained within a parkland setting at the western end of the site, where the apartment buildings provide an appropriate change of scale and mix of unit types.
